What Is An Orthotist?
An orthotist is a specialized healthcare provider who delivers tailored braces or "orthoses" to patients. They not only determine the most suitable brace for each case but also take part in the fitting process. In certain instances, orthotists personally craft the braces to guarantee optimal fit and functionality.
Orthoses may be custom-designed or pre-made, contingent on the patient's needs. Orthotists work with a diverse range of pathologies, from inborn to acquired deformities, and provide devices for both short-term and lifelong use. A certified orthotist is recognized by the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association through successful completion of their certification examination.
